Overview. Daniel sees four beasts rise from the sea, then a scene in heaven where one “like the son of man” receives a kingdom that will never be destroyed.

The vision of the four beasts

Verses 1-8

Daniel records a dream he had in the first year of Belshazzar. The beasts represent powers that rise and fall, and the chapter moves quickly from the sea to the throne room.

The kingdom given to the Son of man

Verses 13-14

Read Daniel 7:14 in your own Bible.

The contrast is the point of the chapter. The earthly powers are temporary, but this kingdom is given by God and it does not pass away.

Take a moment to read Daniel 7:13-14 aloud before moving on to chapter 8.
